Hippodrome was built to have the famous horse chariot races in Roman period after they came to city in 1st century A.D. Today it is fascinating to see in that area the original obelisk from Egypt and the serpent column from Greece ,Apollo temple in Delpie.

Most famous historical neighborhood situated along the golden horn is Fener & Balat neighborhood where Greek and Armenian Christian and also Jewish citizens of Istanbul lived during ottoman period for many centuries .it is housing the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate which is visited by Christians from Orthodox world and it is also open for every one to visit its church. There is also famous Bulgarian Church made from iron ,therefore it is called as iron chuch. Today lots of oriole visiting this old neighborhood to take pictures and walk on the streets with restored and colorfully painted buildings and to eat or drink something in cafes and restaurants.
There is this famous hill Pierre lothi in Eyüp district situated almost at the end of golden horn river and it is very famous for its peaceful Istanbul view and water of golden horn .It took this name from a famous French man who was a officer in French navy and also who was a writer and poet.His favorite place to watch istanbul was this hill and after he died his name was given to this hill.There is also beautiful historical Pierre Lothi café where they serve delicious Turkish tea and Turkish coffee. It is a peaceful place to spend some time .
