The tour starts in front of the tourist information office in the so called Falkenhaus on the market square. The facade of the Falkenhaus shows rich stucco decoratiions in the Rococo style and is a testament to Würzburg's heyday in the 18th century. With its 24 Advent-decorated windows, the facade is reminiscent of an impressive Advent calendar and, together with a small almond tasting, offers the perfect introduction to the Würzburg Christmas walk.

The tour continues via the Christmas market to the Marienkapelle. You will learn about the eventful history of the market square and about the Gothic sacral building, which was built as a civic church. At the south portal, the figures of Adam and Eve by the sculptor and woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider flank the entrance to the Marienkapelle. What do Adam and Eve have in common with our Christmas tree tradition? How was Christmas celebrated at different times? Let yourself be surprised. At the north portal is the tympanum, which depicts the annunciation and thus the origin of the Nativity of Jesus.

We continue to the Pleich district, which has retained the charm of the old days. Here you will learn about the origins of other Christmas traditions and customs. Typical Christmas pastries from regional traditional craft businesses are served, creating a Christmas atmosphere.

Back at the Christmas market stories about St. Nicholas, Santa Claus, Christ Child (Christkind) & Co round off the Christmas walk and reveal the true origin of the gift-bringers. We therefore recommend the tour for children aged 16 and over who already know the "real secret". The stroll ends at the Christmas market and you receive a voucher for mulled wine, which you can redeem individually at a wine tavern on the Old Main Bridge or at the Christmas market after the tour.
