Montmartre: most famously known for its stunning views over Paris, the Sacré Coeur, and of course its artistic residents. Artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Matisse come to mind, but what about the women who were vital in their ascension to world-wide success? You may have heard of Van Gogh, but what about his sister in law Johanna who dedicated her life to promoting his art after his death. Or Berthe Weill who can be accredited to the creation of some of these artists' fame. Alongside these daring women of the art world we will also discover a whole host of eclectic characters from Moulin Rouge cabaret dancers to 19th century revolutionaries. Along the way we will stop at a woman owned middle-eastern pâtisserie where we will try one of their best selling confections.
On this brand new walking tour we will meander the same cobblestone streets as these women once did, and discover how this once rural hillside became the charming, bohemian quarter it is today.
