A private day trip begins in the morning when you'll set out to complete the Grand Circuit, which includes Preah Khan Temple, Neak Pean Temple, Ta Som Temple, East Mebon Temple and Pre Rup Temple. You'll learn more about the temples' history and gain an in-depth understanding of the impressive Khmer architecture.
Pickup begins approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled tour start time. Guests are requested to wait in the main hotel lobby or at the primary entrance so the guide or driver can locate them easily. Upon arrival, the guide will verify the booking by confirming the guest’s name with the hotel team before proceeding. At the end of the tour, guests will be returned to the same location where they were originally picked up.
Guests are asked to provide their hotel name, address, and a contact number at least 24 hours in advance. This allows our guide and driver to coordinate directly with the hotel to ensure a smooth pickup process.
After your delicious breakfast, you will be met and greeted by your guide at 8:30am. First, begin your journey at Preah Khan, an invitingly large monastic complex built in the 12th century as a Buddhist monastery before its later Hindu resurgence. The temple was constructed by King Jayavarman VII, who dedicated it to his father.
Following the excursion, you will proceed to the next temple on the itinerary, Neak Pean, a small island temple located in the middle of the last baray built by King Jayavarman II. We'll go through each of the four interconnected pools, which represent the elements of fire, water, earth, and wind.
For lunch time (at your own expenses), your tour guide will suggest you to one of nearby local restaurants. Enjoy your lunch at the lakeside local restaurant and relax by the "Royal Bath."
After lunch, you'll be taken to Ta Som, an unrestored and pleasantly quiet temple that's the ideal way to end the day. The east and west entry towers are carved with four faces with peaceful smiles, while the first entry tower is adorned with garudas and serpents.
Next, you will explore East Mebon, a 10th-century temple built on a former island, known for its stone elephants and beautifully preserved Khmer architecture.
Following Pre Rup, the temple's name translates to 'turn the body,' leading many experts to believe that funerals were held at the temple. We'll hike up the temple-mountain, taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
This is for the pickup at the guest's hotel in the city center for the tour and return back. The journey takes about 30 minutes each way.
