The crystal-clear water of the Blue Eye creates an intense blue and turquoise hue, which is why it's called "Syri i Kaltër" (meaning "Blue Eye"). What to do: Explore the Blue Eye Spring: The area around the Blue Eye is lush and green, making it a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy nature. The water is a cool 10°C (50°F), and although it's not recommended to swim due to the powerful flow, you can enjoy the scenery and take photos. Hike Around: There are several walking trails in the area. You can enjoy a short hike through the surrounding forest or follow the paths along the stream that feeds the Blue Eye.
Lëkurësi Castle, which is just a few kilometers from Saranda. Located on a hilltop, this castle offers one of the best panoramic views of Saranda, the Ionian Sea, and the surrounding hills. What to do: Explore the Castle: Though in ruins, Lëkurësi Castle is still an impressive sight. You can walk through the old stone walls and towers, imagining what it might have been like in the 16th century when it was built by the Ottomans. Enjoy the Views: From the top of the castle, you can see Saranda, Ksamil, the islands, and parts of Greece across the sea. It's a great spot for photos.
