What to expect
With 11 curated stops, the crawl blends the sensory pleasures of coffee with the deeper narrative of how this humble bean transformed Costa Rica. From fueling political decisions in the 19th century to financing theaters, universities, and public works, coffee built the foundations of our political and social reality.
At each café, you’ll enjoy a different perspective of specialty coffee—whether it’s a unique brewing method, a tasting of local micro-lots, or conversations with passionate baristas. Between shops, you’ll wander through San José’s historic center, stopping at key landmarks that reveal how coffee exports forged our identity and connected Costa Rica to the wider world.
By the end, you’ll have tasted the city in its purest form: through its coffee, its streets, and its stories.
