    Castillo de Santa Barbara

    One of the most emblematic spaces of the city. This promenade, renowned for its rolling mosaic pavement and centuries-old palm trees, reflects the open and Mediterranean character of Alicante. An ideal place to understand the importance of the port and the social life of the city. Located on top of Mount Benacantil, it is one of the largest medieval castles in Spain. From its surroundings the different historical stages of the fortress are explained – Islamic, medieval and modern – and enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the city and the coast.
