This trek is not just a walk through nature — it’s a journey into Bali’s hidden heart. While most visitors never see this side of the island, you’ll hike through one of its last remaining rainforests, guided by locals who share their deep respect for the land and its spirits.
Every step reveals a world untouched by mass tourism: sacred jungle temples, ancient trees covered in moss, the distant call of monkeys, and the scent of wild ginger in the air. It’s an experience that blends adventure and authenticity—challenging enough to feel like a true expedition, yet filled with quiet moments of beauty and reflection.

Morning Pick-Up Your adventure begins early in the morning as your personal guide picks you up from your hotel. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive through lush tropical landscapes and green rice terraces. As you ascend into the highlands near Mount Batukaru, the air becomes cooler, and the morning mist drifts across the valleys — a hint of the wild beauty that awaits. Stop anytime for photos or simply to take in the peaceful mountain atmosphere before reaching the remote village area of Wongaya.
Arrival in the mountain village Welcome to the quiet mountain village, nestled on the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Stretch your legs and take a short warm-up walk through the rural countryside, past rice paddies and coconut palms. Your guide introduces you to the Subak system—Bali’s traditional irrigation network and part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. It’s a calm start before the adventure begins—so keep some energy for what’s to come!
Start your jungle adventure Arrive at the village, the local activity base where your jungle trek begins. After a short safety briefing, grab your bamboo walking stick—and maybe take a deep breath—because from here, the real adventure starts. Together with your local ranger and guide, you’ll leave the village paths behind and enter the dense, tropical rainforest that surrounds Mount Batukaru.
Important information From this point onwards, you will be leaving the beaten track. There are no markings or waypoints in the jungle, but you can fully rely on your ranger and guide, who know the way exactly. For this reason, Balai Belajar in Belulang will be the last waypoint until you return to Warung Balikaru. Into the Wild—True Jungle Trekking Now you enter the rainforest proper: narrow trails, hanging vines, and a ceiling of green. Your ranger knows every turn and will clear the way when the forest gets too dense. You’ll cross small rivers, climb gentle slopes, and sometimes duck under vines and branches. In return, you’ll experience raw, untouched nature—an authentic jungle atmosphere that only a few visitors ever get to see.
Rest Stop in the Rainforest The climb can be challenging, but the rewards are worth it. In a small forest clearing, your guide invites you to take a well-deserved rest. An old bamboo shelter offers shade, and your ranger prepares Balinese snacks and tropical fruits—a perfect jungle picnic. As you relax, listen to the chorus of the rainforest: birds, cicadas, and distant monkey calls echoing through the trees.
Hidden Beji Temple & Sacred Springs The most magical part of the trek awaits. Deep in the jungle, beside a crystal-clear river, lies a hidden Beji — a sacred water temple known only to locals. Before entering, your guide presents small offerings to honor the spirits of the forest. The scene is enchanting: cool spring water cascades over mossy rocks, sunlight filters through the canopy, and the air feels pure and ancient. You’re welcome to take a refreshing dip in the clear waters—a moment of peace and connection with Bali’s living nature.
Back to the Village The last stretch of your trek winds through dense jungle vegetation—narrow paths, hanging vines, and mossy stones underfoot. It’s a demanding but rewarding finale that keeps you fully immersed in the wild. When you finally reach the river and springs near Belulang village, take a short rest—the hardest part is done!”
Lunch & Relaxation at Warung Back at the village, it’s time to celebrate your adventure with a delicious Balinese lunch. The small Warung restaurant offers a peaceful garden setting and traditional dishes like Nasi Campur Tumpeng—beautifully presented on banana leaves. Take your time to rest, enjoy a refreshing drink, and soak up the tranquil village atmosphere.
Visit the village farm & hot spring After lunch, explore the village farm. Meet the farmer, and learn about tropical plants, herbs, and the fascinating Trigona stingless bees that produce a rare, healthy honey. If you like, try your hand at rice planting! Afterwards, enjoy a gentle village walk through the fields and along traditional houses—a glimpse into daily life in this remote mountain community. Before heading back, make a short stop at the nearby Belulang Hot Springs. Locals come here to bathe in the natural sulfur water believed to promote well-being.
Scenic Stop at hidden waterfall Then, a final scenic stop awaits: the beautiful Pengempu Waterfall, hidden in lush greenery. It’s the perfect ending to an adventurous day—peaceful, refreshing, and a moment to reflect on the day’s experiences.
Return to Your Hotel After this full day of discovery, your driver takes you back to your hotel or villa. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride—you’ve earned it! You’ll return around 5:00 PM, carrying memories of a truly authentic jungle adventure that few travelers ever experience.
