What to expect

Your experience begins before the first sip. Your guide opens with how craft beer is actually made — from malting raw barley to the role of yeast and water chemistry in creating Gdańsk's distinctively rich brews.
Next comes a walkthrough of the major beer styles: the crisp bitterness of an IPA, the roasted depth of a Baltic porter, the soft effervescence of a wheat ale. Then a malt deep-dive — pale, crystal, chocolate, smoked — so you understand how each variety shapes color, aroma, and body.
From there, the session moves into history. Gdańsk has brewed for over 1,000 years. Your guide covers the medieval grain trade on the Motława river, the astronomer Johannes Hevelius who ran one of the city's greatest breweries, and the legendary "Jopejskie" — a thick, dark elixir once exported across all of Europe.
Finally — the tasting. Six Polish craft beers, approx. 150ml each, arrive in a logical progression from lighter to more complex styles. Each pour is introduced by your guide, connecting everything you've learned to what's in your glass.
