On the way to Akagera, we make a short stop over to Imigongo Art center for the stretching, use the bathroom, grab a drink or take something to eat if you have skipped the breakfast. 3Akagera National Park
Upon arrival at Akagera National Park, complete entry formalities and embark on a guided game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes. Akagera is often regarded as the best one-day safari in Africa, as it is the only park where you can traverse from south to north in a single day, with excellent chances of spotting the Big Five. Set in the Land of a Thousand Hills, the park features open savannah, rolling hills, and over ten lakes, including Lake Ihema, Rwanda’s second-largest rift valley lake. During the drive, look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and a rich variety of birdlife, with over 500 bird species recorded in the park.
