I’m your guide from Oslonature, a local who knows this forest like the back of my hand. With deep knowledge of hidden trails and secret spots, I’ll lead you through Norway’s untouched beauty, away from the crowds. This hike takes place in my local forest, and is accompanied by my friendly dog. Together, we’ll explore some of the most scenic and tranquil spots in the area.
In winter, the landscape transforms into a magical winter wonderland. You’ll walk through snow-covered forests, past frozen lakes, and breathe in the crisp winter air. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, moose, badgers, martens, squirrels and hares.
We’ll hike on forest trails with uneven terrain and a few hills. The adventure begins with a short 5-minute walk from the train station to the edge of the forest. From there, we start uphill, reaching a scenic viewpoint. After enjoying the view, we descend to a serene lake where we’ll take a relaxing break.
Meet the guide and her dog at Kolbotn train station. Take the train called L2 Ski. The train departs every fifteen minutes and takes 21 minutes from Oslo Central Station and 27 minutes from National Theatre Station. Look for a woman with a dog and a backpacker.
Your guide helps you get the right train and ticket. It’s the same line as to the meeting point, just one extra stop. Enjoy fjord views and a local neighborhood on the 25-minute ride back to Oslo city center.
From the meeting point, you’ll walk for about 10 minutes through a traditional Norwegian neighborhood before reaching the forest entrance. Along the way, you’ll see how Norwegians live and pass by a lake. There will also be an opportunity to use the restroom.
We hike up to a viewpoint with panoramic views of the lake, mountains, and all the way to Oslo city and the Oslofjord. It’s a beautiful spot to take photos or simply enjoy the scenery. From there, we continue hiking down to a stunning lake.
By the lake, we take a break and enjoy some light Norwegian snacks and a drink. In the summer, you’ll have the chance to swim in the clean water—about 20°C. Bring a swimsuit and towel if you’d like to take a dip! In winter, you can even walk on the frozen lake if conditions are safe.
After the break, we hike uphill and then out of the forest, entering a cozy Norwegian neighborhood before ending the tour at the train station.
