Las Alpujarras is a group of villages within the Sierra Nevada nature park that was the last refuge of Muslims forcibly converted to Christianity. There they forged their own high mountain lifestyle by inventing high mountain irrigation systems in almost impossible places. Alpujarra will nowadays become the cradle of Serra ham and black leg and the textile that dates back to the Moorish era when carpets were made with silk produced in the area.
The guide will explain during the tour the geography of the area, the history of the Moors before arriving at the ham dryer where they will explain how the hams are cured. Then we will do a tasting of local hams, cheeses and wines.

The guide and the driver pick up the travelers at the departure of the cruise in the port of Motril or in their accommodations for an excursion in the Alpujarra of Granada climbing the national and natural park of Sierra Nevada to the village of trevelez at 1476 meters of Altitude. During the journey your guide will explain the geography, fauna and flora of the Sierra Nevada natural and national park, the history and way of life of the Moors who have populated the area from the beginning of the 16th century to the beginning of the 17th. He will also talk about the current local economy and the process of producing the famous hams of Trevelez.

In the village of trevelez you will visit a ham dryer where you will explain the production process of the famous ham of Trevelez with a tasting of ham , charcuteries, cheeses and local wine.

After the tasting we will stop in Pampaneira to visit the village and explain the way of construction and life of the Moors that have populated these villages from the beginning of the 16th century to the beginning of the 17th, take a walk in the village and free time for food.
