    Built by: King Chanda of the Nikumbha Dynasty (9th century) Structure: 13 storeys deep with 3,500 narrow steps in a geometric pattern. Depth: About 20 meters (65 feet). Purpose: Provided water for the village and served as a cool resting spot in Rajasthan’s hot climate. Architecture: Perfect symmetry and intricate carvings make it one of the most stunning stepwells in India.
