The area on top of the Castle Hill has been the heart of the capital even from the medieval times and partly survived the great wars. Today it is a charming UNESCO World Heritage Site. With cobblestoned passages, Baroque apartments, royal courtyards, cosy cafés and galleries the Old Town of Buda is a mix of culture and heritage, old and new. Of couse we will not miss such important sights as the gorgeous Matthias Church, the iconic Fisherman’s Bastion or the Royal Palace which houses two museums and a library actually.

    Castell de Buda

    Passing by the Castle Hill Tunnel we can walk up to the top of the Castle Hill. A 10 -12 minute long moderate walk on a staircase.

    Buda Castle

    We can walk around the Royal and the Government area visiting the Royal Palace from the outside as it houses two museums and a library, actually. Then we can visit the Matthias Fountain, the ruins of the Medieval Castle, The Hungarian Whitehouse (outside visit) and the Government Area.

    Holy Trinity Column

    We can continue our walk in the residential area. The Old Town of Buda also offers so many nice sights to see. The oldest apartments of the city and the decorative Holy Trinity Square with the Column in the middle of it.
