This experience brings out the authenticity, diversity, and rich heritage of the communities found in Mombasa from different backgrounds and ethnicity. The spices, aroma, sweet snacks and drinks bring out different flavours that make you want to do this again and again. The locals are friendly making your experience even more interesting.

Treasury Square gardens-It is a public garden and everyone is welcome. You can sit anywhere and wait when you arrive early.

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What to expect

We will meet at Treasury Square and then explain where we will be heading.

The places we will visit and eat in are mainly on the streets. So, we will walk from one area to another as we learn about locals, their culture, food, and way of life. These areas are all in Old Town and it is a short distance walk so you will not get tired.

Depending on your food taste and capacity, You will have to sample these:

1. Mishkaki-Beef Skewers
2. Juice ya Miwa-Fresh sugarcane juice
3. Kahawa- Swahili Sweet Coffee
4. Chai-Swahili Tea
5. Viazi karai/Bhajia-Potatoes
6. Sea Food- Octopus/Prawns/Fish
7. Kachiri-Cassava Chips/Crisps
8. And many more.

For every bite, there is a story. We will also learn how the food is prepared so you can try it when you go back to your city. Here, we Vurunyaaa.
