In this trek, you travel around 20 km in total, where the climax of the tour is the Base Torres viewpoint, where, after overcoming the last climb up the moraine, travelers are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the three granite towers reflected over a glacier lagoon: a landscape that leaves you breathless.
During the tour it is possible to observe endemic birds, guanacos, and if there is luck, even condors flying over the valley. We begin with the pick-up of passengers from the respective lodging places or meeting point previously agreed with the passenger, from the city of Puerto Natales. Our pickup schedule from the city the city of Puerto Natales at 06:00 am. making the pickup of people with a delay of approximately 40 minutes. On the way to the passenger accommodation you will be contacted about 5 minutes beforehand so that you are prepared to leave for transport.
The journey from Puerto Natales to the Portería Laguna Amarga in Torres del Paine National Park takes approximately 2 hours of land travel (110 km). The journey begins in this city surrounded by mountains, fjords and the Last Hope Breast. Exiting north on Route 9, travelers have views of Señoret Canal, Cerro Dorotea. Also along the way we can observe Patagonian stays and pampas. For much of the route you can see sheep, guanacos, rhea and foxes culpeo. There are also historic livestock farms, many of them still in operation, which are part of the rural heritage of the Magellan Region. It is very common to observe groups of guanacos, it is possible to see Chilean flamingos, black-necked swans and other waterfowl. Upon arrival at the Amarga Lagoon Goal, one of the main entrances to the park, the entrance control is carried out. After this we head to the Park Welcome Center.
The day begins with the transfer from the accommodation to the Laguna Amarga sector. From there, we will start the trail to the Ascencio Valley, accompanied by expert guides who will deliver information on the geography, flora, fauna and conservation of the park. Natural viewpoints There are several points where walkers can stop to rest and take pictures. Ascent by glacial moraine The last stage of trekking is the most physically demanding. It is an ascent by a moraine of glacial origin, with rocky and irregular terrain. - Base Torres viewpoint Finally, you reach the Base Torres viewpoint, where the three granite towers emerge: South, Central and North Towers.
The journey back from the Portería Laguna Amarga to Puerto Natales is much more than just a return : it is an opportunity to continue marveling at the vastness and diversity of Patagonia. During the 2 hours of tour, passengers can enjoy panoramic views, wildlife sighting. As you begin your return, the road gives away unforgettable postcards of the Paine massif from different angles. Very close to the goal is the Bitter Lagoon, a body of saline water where it is common to see flocks of Chilean flamingos and other waterfowl. It is also common to observe guanacos grazing on the slopes, as well as gray foxes and even, with some luck, some Andean condor flying over the sky. During the journey, travelers will be able to observe the historic livestock farms, many of which still maintain their pens, sheep and shearing sheds.
