Chapel Hill: the "Gay Mecca of the South", achieved many firsts in its history. It featured the first gay student association in North Carolina, the first openly gay elected official in the South, the first pride parade in the South, the first gay bar in the South, and much, much more. This tour takes guests between the points of important LGBT history in Chapel Hill and shares this fascinating and trailblazing story.
We meet outside of Rougarou on Henderson Street. There is usually streetside parking available, but if not, we recommend the parking deck across the street.
Guests will travel to different locations related to Chapel Hill's LGBT history, including the site of The Tempo Room, the Chapel of the Cross, the meeting place of the Carolina Gay Alliance, and more
