For the first time in its history, Nijo-jo Castle will host the immersive theater production“Shiro Geki: Onmyoji Mizuki’s Time-Space Chronicle – Save the Kan’ei Imperial Visit!”,directed by Japan Academy Prize winner Junichi Yasuda. This groundbreaking performance fuses a massive LED display—5 meters tall and 29 meters wide—with live actors performing in the same physical space. The result is an immersive experience of extraordinary depth and realism, something impossible to achieve through projection alone.
In addition, a special nighttime viewing of the National Treasure Ninomaru Palace will be offered. The gold-embellished sliding door paintings, refined architectural details, and the “authentic beauty” crafted by artisans of the era reveal expressions unlike those seen during the day. Visitors can experience the profound atmosphere and tension of this historic space even more deeply at night, enhanced by the elegant illumination throughout the castle grounds.
