What to expect

Experience SA's favourite protein delicacy at our biltong-making workshop!

Join us in our cosy "voorkamer" (lounge) for a hands-on demonstration to make your own biltong. We'll share fun facts and tips - from selecting the right cut of meat to how to prepare and cure it.

Biltong is a South African dried meat snack that is different from American jerky. It is made with beef, game meat, or ostrich, and is seasoned with a blend of spices that is unique to South Africa.

We also offer a vegan option that is surprisingly good!

Learn about SA's history and rainbow nation culture. We'll tell you about the Khoisan hunter-gatherers who invented biltong, the pioneers of the Great Trek who added the spice, and the English "Soutie" who married an Afrikaans "Boeremeisie."

We'll also create a fun, relaxed atmosphere with Boeremusiek (folk music) and some catchy Afrikaans songs. We'll teach you a few local expressions while you taste some of Soutie's homemade Karringmelkbeskuit.

Guests will get a sample of biltong sticks to take home. There will also be an opportunity to buy more snacks and mementoes.

This is a unique cultural experience that you won't want to miss!
