Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, also known as Puerto Princesa Underground River, is located around 76 km northwest of Puerto Princesa in the Saint Paul Mountain Range. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it houses a “mountain to sea” ecosystem with some of the most significant and intact old-growth forests in Asia, featuring the spectacular limestone karst landscape and the globally significant habitat for biodiversity conservation and threatened species of wildlife.
There are eight intact forest formations found in Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park: the beach forest, forest on ultramafic soil, forest on limestone soil, freshwater swamp forest, lowland evergreen tropical rainforest, mangrove forest, montane forest, and riverine forest. The Palawan Moist Forest, recognized by the WWF's Global Report, is outstanding biodiversity containing the richest tree flora with high levels of regional and local endemism.
Please be advised that the Underground River is currently transitioning to a new management under a newly appointed Park Superintendent. As part of this transition, the Park Superintendent (PaSu) will strictly adhere to all policies and booking procedures outlined in the site’s official guidelines, with very limited flexibility.
In line with this, kindly take note of the following updates:
Same-day bookings will NO longer be accepted during peak months, long weekends, and holidays. Same-day bookings may be accommodated during lean months, subject to the availability of slots, vehicles, and tour guides.
Our standard booking threshold is one (1) day prior to the tour, with a cutoff time of 12:00 NN, to ensure we can meet the cashier’s cutoff at the Park Office at 2:00 PM. Please note that this cutoff does not apply on days when cruise ships are arriving.
We kindly encourage all booking requests to be submitted in advance and with complete guest details (full names, ages, and nationalities). This helps us process bookings more efficiently, especially for tours scheduled the following day.
Please also note that there are only 900 tour slots per day allocated for tour operators.
