Gordon's Bay is near Strand and accessible from Cape Town in just 45 minutes by car. The beach getaway is serene and romantic, and the sunsets are among the prettiest you'll ever see. In Gordon's Bay, one of the Western Cape's best-kept secrets, you can take your time, avoid the throng, and explore. Situated 109 miles (176 km) southeast of Cape Town, South Africa, lies Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point on the African continent. The town of 17,537 people in the Western Cape province, and the fourth-oldest town in South Africa (after Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Simon's Town, and Paarl). The majority of the town's more than fifty provincial heritage assets are composed of Cape Dutch-style structures. Swellendam is located on the N2, roughly 220 kilometers (140 miles) between George and Cape Town. Because of the special microclimate of the Hermitage valley, which is located a short distance outside of Swellendam, this region is the largest in the world for cultivating youngberries. It is home to farms like Wildebraam Liqueur farm, which provides liqueur tastings and cellar tours.

Oudtshoorn

The Tradouw Pass, known as Womens Path in the traditional Khoi language, is a 16-kilometer drive that winds through some of the most breathtaking and untamed mountain landscapes in the Langeberg. It passes across an altitude range of 219 meters. On an overall ranking, this pass is definitely among the top 20 tarred passes in the Western Cape. Originally constructed by Thomas Bain, it connects the municipalities of Barrydale and Swellendam. The engineering teams did a fantastic job of maintaining the setting and Thomas Bain's charm in the design and supporting stonework despite the extensive renovations recently. This mountain pass is definitely one of those that you have to drive. This one fulfills every requirement.

Cango Caves
Though damaged through shortsighted tourism schemes in the 1960s, these caves are still worth a visit for their eerie dark tunnels and stunning limestone formations. The Cango Caves are Africa's largest show caves and one of the Seven Wonders of Southern Africa, which makes the Cango Caves the archaeological and historical highlight of the Klein Karoo.

To get to Oudtshoorn, take the well-known Route 62 and N1, which make for a comparatively simple and enjoyable drive, or arrange a private transfer. You'll cross vineyards soon after leaving and then enter the dry, hilly region with winding roads and scenic views. With about 3500 birds and more than 200 species, Birds of Eden is the largest single dome free fly aviary in the world. Visitors can choose to hire a guide to take them through the aviary and educate them about the many species, or they can take a self-guided tour of our 3-hectare aviary on our specially designed 1.2km boardwalks. You'll see more the longer you stay in the aviary. Enjoying bird watching requires time, just like any other activity. Tsitsikamma National Park is a multifaceted location featuring rich forests, rivers, reefs, and fragile Fynbos in addition to stunning coastal vistas. In honor of Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole, who served as Cape Governor in 1828, Sir Lowry's Pass was called. The ancient crossing was steep and treacherous, and is a far cry from the cantilevered four-lane roadway of today. Before the pass was constructed, the Franschoek Pass was the preferred route for years due to its gentler gradients for wagons and oxen. This pass was used for all wagon traffic coming from the Overberg.
