Guided by a licensed Urasenke tea master, you’ll join an authentic tea gathering using rare antique utensils—including 400-year-old tea bowls—amid an atmosphere reserved just for your group.
Your experience begins with a conversation with the tea master, who will explain the philosophy of the ceremony, the meaning of each gesture, and the stories behind the utensils.
You’ll be served thick tea (koicha) with a seasonal wagashi sweet, thoughtfully prepared. This meditative moment invites you to appreciate the beauty of form, stillness, and harmony.
Next, you’ll prepare your own usucha (light tea) and enjoy it with dry sweets (higashi), deepening your understanding of Japanese hospitality.
The ceremony is held in a private room overlooking a tranquil courtyard, where light and shadow dance across the tatami. English guidance is available.
