Immerse yourself in two essential Japanese traditions in a single, engaging session. First, you will learn the art of shodō (Japanese calligraphy) — mastering basic brush strokes, writing your name or favorite Japanese characters, and creating a personal calligraphy piece to take home.
Next, you will shift to the serene world of the tea ceremony (chanoyu). Under guidance, you will experience the full ritual: grinding matcha by hand using a stone mill, preparing your own bowl of matcha, and savoring it alongside traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi). Throughout the class, your instructor will explain the history, philosophy, and etiquette behind each practice, opening a window into Japanese aesthetics and mindfulness.
