Upon arrival at Kigoma Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Kigoma town. Later in the day, begin your cultural and historical experience with a guided visit to the Dr. David Livingstone Memorial in Ujiji, the famous site where H.M. Stanley met Dr. Livingstone in 1871. Learn about their historic encounter, the role of Ujiji in early African exploration, and its significance along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. After the historical tour, continue to the Lake Tanganyika beach, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful sunset over one of the world’s deepest and oldest lakes. This is a perfect moment for photography and unwinding after your journey. In the evening, transfer back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Kigoma.
After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kigoma, you will be transferred to Kibirizi Port to begin your journey to Gombe National Park. Enjoy a scenic boat ride across Lake Tanganyika, with beautiful views of the shoreline and surrounding mountains as you approach the remote, forested park. Upon arrival, complete park registration and meet your experienced park rangers and guide before starting a guided chimpanzee trekking experience through the forest. Once chimpanzees are located, observe their natural behavior such as feeding, social interaction, and movement in the wild. After the trek, return to the camp or lodge for lunch. The afternoon is spent at leisure, relaxing by the lakeshore or enjoying a short guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight stay inside Gombe National Park.
After an early breakfast at the camp or lodge, set out for a full-day chimpanzee trekking experience in Gombe National Park. Accompanied by experienced park rangers and a professional guide, you will follow chimpanzee families deep into the forest as you learn about their behavior, social structure, and habitat. Once the chimpanzees are located, observe them feeding, moving through the forest, and interacting naturally in their environment . Return to the camp for lunch, followed by an optional hike to Jane’s Peak or a short guided forest walk. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay inside Gombe National Park.
After an early breakfast at the camp or lodge, depart Gombe National Park by boat and enjoy a final scenic cruise across Lake Tanganyika, taking in the beautiful lakeshore and surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival in Kigoma town, you will be transferred to Kigoma Airport for your onward journey. Depending on flight time, you may have a short opportunity to view Kigoma town or stop briefly along the lakeshore before departure. This marks the end of your chimpanzee trekking safari and historical experience in western Tanzania.
