    Hierapolis & Pamukkale

The journey to Pamukkale takes about 3 hours for total. But we will make a short stop halfway so that you can stretch your legs and have something to drink When we arrive in Pamukkale, we will be greeted by the Necropolis (cemetery) of Hierapolis. This is one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia, containing 1,200 tombs. Here, you will see the Roman Baths, the Domitian Gate, the Main Street, and the Byzantine Gate.

    Pamukkale Thermal Pools

Afterward, you will walk to the natural heated water terraces, where calcium-rich hot water flows. The water temperature is about 35°C You will also be able to see Pamukkale’s bright white travertine terraces and notice that they are close to the ruins of Hierapolis. This extraordinary effect occurs as hot water loses carbon dioxide and leaves behind deposits of limestone as it flows down the slopes. The accumulation of white calcium carbonate on the terraces creates this stunning effect, which is why the area is called "Pamukkale," as it resembles a giant cotton ball mountain.

    Cleopatra Pools

There will be a lunch break, and the meal will be served in a buffet style. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to swim in the hot red thermal pools. If you wish to swim in the Antique Pool, which is also known as the "Cleopatra Pool," a small additional fee will be required. The Cleopatra Pool is heated by hot water springs and is covered with ancient marble column fragments at the bottom. This pool, which may be linked to the Temple of Apollo, offers visitors a rare opportunity to swim among ancient ruins! During the Roman period, there were columned porticos around the pool; earthquakes toppled them into the water, and they still lie beneath the surface today.
