Jewish people first arrived in London in 1068, at the invitation of William the Conqueror. On this walking tour, we'll explore the hidden heritage of the Jewish community in the City of London, from the original Jewish quarter in the heart of the Square Mile right up to the present day.
This walk is in partnership with The Jewish Square Mile , a project to reveal and celebrate the history of the Jewish Cemetery and the Jewish people who lived in medieval London.
Barbican Underground Station - outside (Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City Line)
We'll begin by exploring the site of the medieval Jewish cemetery
We'll walk through the heart of the City to pay tribute to some of its most famous Jewish characters
We'll stop outside Bevis Marks Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the country
The tour ends at the Kindertransport Memorial outside Liverpool Street Station
