In the shadow of the Battle of Nations Monument lies one of Germany's most impressive surface monuments : the Leipziger Südfriedhof. Already at the end of the 19th century, a park-like cemetery complex with sometimes spectacular tombs was built here.
Between ancient trees and lush rhododendrons, there are simple row graves, imposing buildings, mausoleums and sculptures. Many tombs reflect Leipzig’s impressive Wilhelminian past, but also the need for representation of the wealthy citizens of Leipzig, even beyond death.
Follow the local guide on a stroll through a grandiose cultural-historical open-air museum. Discover fauna and flora in the middle of an idyllic parkland. Experience a unique overall work of art from architecture, sculpture and garden art.
We meet at the north gate of the cemetery, to the right of the Battle of Nations Monument. You are right when you see the info center behind the gate with the number 5. Tip: From the tram stop "Völkerschlachtdenkmal" it is only a five-minute walk to the meeting point.
