Arrabidine continues to be an old liqueur and made “the old fashioned way”, with a minimum aging period of 3 to 5 years, spending much of that time in old barrels. We maintain its integrity by harvesting our crops in Serra da Arrábida, by hand, at the appropriate time of year. Full of ‘sweetness’ and with a lot of attention and dedication, this nectar will last in your collection, or wine cellar, for generations. We want to make it bigger, as better is difficult. To celebrate the return of Arrabidine, after 30 years of interregnum, we launched the liqueur in a replica of the first model used for the Arrabidine bottle in our family, from the 50s, in a series in pyrographic glass. A special digestive, with a strong character for the most demanding palates. Recovered so you can share the best Secret of the Monks of Arrábida, in the best moments.
A visit to Venâncio da Costa Lima allows you to learn about the history and values of this family winery. The principles of making white, red and Moscatel de Setúbal wines are explained. It ends with a wine tasting at “Adega Velha”, where the Moscatel de Setúbal barrels are aged. Includes tasting of regional products, such as Queijo de Azeitão, homemade bread, sausages and fogaças.
At the top and inside the Castle of Palmela, we find this medieval restaurant, with excellent cuisine and atmosphere. From the careful environment to the majestic landscape that surrounds Palmela, Setúbal and the mountains, you can feel and breathe the calm and beauty of the heart of the village of Palmela, which becomes more alive inside this house. A strong pulse that does not extinguish nor dwell on the brilliant past that it felt but that finds life in a future of great quality, worthy of visiting and enjoying. Enjoy a unique environment, and while tasting the best of regional cuisine, go back in time, to the medieval era.
The Rio Frio Palace was born at the beginning of the 20th century, with a privileged location close to Montijo, Alcochete and the banks of the Tagus. In the past, the property with around 17 thousand hectares was considered one of the largest estates in the country, essentially producing wine. In the following generations, the estate was left as an inheritance to a nephew of José Maria dos Santos, Alfredo Santos Jorge, who ordered the construction of the Rio Frio Palace. Dona Maria de Lourdes Pereira Lupi d'Orey, current owner of Palácio de Rio Frio and great-niece of Alfredo Santos Jorge, remembers the magic of life on the estate. From a large family, deeply linked to the countryside and farming, his brother José Samuel Lupi stands out as a bullfighting figure. The house offers elegant decoration, with a magnificent set of tiles by Jorge Colaço. It offers a charming journey through the gardens and woods, providing a unique experience.
Located in Fernando Pó, in the municipality of Palmela, Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a family business, producing some of the most prestigious wines in the Setúbal Peninsula region. With 550 hectares of vineyards on the property, you can discover the details of ancient and current winemaking processes. Ancient winemaking techniques are revealed through agricultural utensils, old wine presses, and some images and objects related to regional traditions associated with harvesting. Outside there is contact with the vineyards, where the 29 grape varieties present in the production of the brand's wines are planted. At the winemaking center, all stages of production can be observed, from crushing to bottling. Also noteworthy is the Gold Room, where the highest distinctions attributed to Ermelinda Freitas wines are on display. Tasting consisting of 5 wines, including red, white, rosé and muscatel accompanied by regional products.
