You can explore Shiogama City, boasting one of Japan's largest catches of fresh tuna, as well as its rich traditional culture as a gateway town to Shiogama Shrine. This is the walking tour and you can wander around Shiogama City on foot and by bus, enjoying various local delicacies.
In Shiogama Fish Market, Japan's top port for fresh tuna catches, you'll enjoy a seafood bowl with your favorite ingredients, be sure to skip your breakfast to enjoy.
We'll stroll through the traditional streets of Shiogama, savoring delicious Japanese sweets and side dishes. Also we explore shrines include Shiogama Shrine, said to be the oldest in the Tohoku region.

Meet up in front of "the Signboard with a Picture of Tuna". Note: Higashi-Shiogama Station is located on the JR Senseki Line, and it is different from "Shiogama Station" and "Hon-Shiogama Station".

Stroll around Shiogama Fish Market, Japan Top Tuna market. If you're lucky, you might witness the dismantling of a large tuna at the market. Then, get your favorite seafood and make your own Sushi Bowl.

Walk to Shiogama Shrine, the oldest temple in Tohoku region. Learn the proper way to worship at Shiogama Shrine and Shiwahiko Shrine, and pray for happiness. You'll stroll through the traditional streets of Shiogama, savoring delicious Japanese sweets and side dishes.

On the main street of Shiogama, you'll find a variety of shops lining up, ranging from traditional Japanese sweet shops to liquor shops where you can enjoy some fine Japanese sake, and even miso and soy sauce stores. Visit Okama Shrine to see the four mysterious sacred pots for making salt. These sacred pots are one of Japan's three wonders, and there are several legends associated with them, such as "the water never overflows from the pot, and it never runs out of water" and "the color of the water changes when something unusual happens."
