The tour will conclude at the venue of the Asamushi Winter Nebuta Festival.
We will gather at Asamushi Onsen Station and enjoy a guided walking tour featuring an onsen tamago (hot spring egg) making experience, a visit to Asamushi Hachiman-gu Shrine, and a stroll through a lively local marché.
Next, we will take part in hands-on activities, including making palm-sized mini Goldfish Nebuta and mini Hanagasa floats while learning a few words of the Tsugaru dialect from local residents. You’ll also enjoy a stick bread making experience, creating Tsugaru’s beloved “soul food.” Be sure to take your finished creations home as souvenirs.
Finally, we will experience the Winter Nebuta Festival, where the floats take on a unique charm under the winter sky. In the quiet of midwinter, the festival begins as lights illuminate the Nebuta floats. A new winter-themed Nebuta, “Snow Dragon: Praying for the Winter of Asamushi” (created by master Ryuho Tatsuta), along with a giant Goldfish Nebuta, is paraded through the hot spring town to the accompaniment of lively musicians. The festival concludes with a spectacular fireworks display, and those who have tried on the dancer costumes are welcome to join the parade!
