What to expect

Tottori Prefecture, located in a quiet region of Japan, retains a rich culture of "Mingei" (Japanese folk craft)that has been passed down for generations. This tour takes you to "Genzui-gama," one of the kilns upholding this tradition, for a special pottery-making class taught by the artisan himself.

While this studio is normally difficult to access by public transport, this private plan includes round-trip transportation and a professional English guide.

First, the artisan will show you the traditional kiln and explain its history. Then, it's time for your pottery experience. Feel the clay and spin the wheel as you immerse yourself in the quiet, "Zen-like"focus of creating your own piece.

Your artisan will be right beside you to help, and your guide will interpret, allowing you to fully appreciate the depth of this traditional Japanese craft without any language barriers.

The studio also features an attached gift shop where you can purchase and take home your favorite finished works(Cost for souvenirs is not included).
