Engage with ancient bonsai trees, some over 100 years old, as you learn the art of bonsai creation. Under expert guidance, craft your own miniature tree by preparing soil, pruning, and applying moss, all while absorbing the rich cultural significance of this traditional art form. Leave with valuable techniques to continue your bonsai journey back home, along with cherished memories captured in photographs.

Meeting and pickup
How to get to Sekoen Daimaru Tokyo branch: At Tokyo Station, go to the Yaesu North Exit (八重洲北口). The Daimaru Department Store is located right next to this exit. Take the elevator or escalator up to the 10th floor. Seikouen is located on this floor (next to the aquarium shop).
What to expect
View rare Bonsai trees, some over 100 years old, displayed exclusively at this location. Learn Seikouen’s history, the principles of Bonsai aesthetics, and how to truly “see” the trees—transforming the way you appreciate Japanese nature.
2. Hands-on Creation
Guided by our instructors, create your own palm-sized Bonsai.
Preparation: Begin with a seedling and pot, preparing the soil and foundation.
Pruning & Styling: Use authentic Bonsai scissors to shape your tree with focus and intention.
Finishing: Complete your miniature landscape by carefully applying moss.
3. Reflection & Photography
Enjoy a quiet, meditative moment with your tree, away from travel’s noise. While quarantine rules prevent taking the plant home, you’ll leave with the knowledge to start your own Bonsai journey, a special souvenir, and photos of your creation.
