Welcome the day in true Aussie style — watching wild kangaroos and wallabies at sunrise by the sea, followed by a classic Drovers Breakfast and coffee at a quirky local café. Operated by Airlie Adventure Tours, proudly Eco Certified by Ecotourism Australia, this small-group experience blends wildlife, local flavour, and Whitsundays charm.

Departing Airlie Beach before dawn, journey north to a peaceful beach where kangaroos and wallabies gather at first light. Watch the sunrise over the Coral Sea and capture incredible photos as your eco guide shares insights into their habitat and behaviour. It's an early start: We pick guests up from their accommodation from 2:45 am for a 3 am departure from Airlie Beach. This is to ensure we arrive early to watch kangaroos on the beach at sunrise at the stunning Cape Hillsborough National Park. 1.5 hours south of Airlie Beach, the beach at Cape Hillsborough has gained international recognition for its sunrise kangaroos and wallabies experience. Every morning, the kangaroos and wallabies come down to the beach at sunrise to feed on seaweed and mangrove seed pods, and they don’t mind posing for a few photos! The sunrises here are breathtaking; you’ll quickly understand why it has become such a popular spot.
