The Gokyo Lakes Trek is a beautiful trek in the Everest region. You’ll hike to four different lakes and climb to Gokyo Ri. It’s less crowded than the Everest Base Camp trek.

Look for our representative at the airport exit holding a sign with your name. They'll guide you to our tourist vehicle, which will take you to your hotel.
A representative from Places Nepal will welcome you at the Airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel. If you arrive before 4 p.m., we will have our pre-trip meeting at our office, and if you arrive after 4 p.m., our team will meet you at your hotel.
Today, we start our Everest Base Camp trek with a flight to Lukla. A guide will pick you up and take you to the airport. After a 45-minute flight, we’ll hike to Phakding. Note: Due to Kathmandu's airport congestion, Lukla flights now depart from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap, a 5- 6 hour drive from Kathmandu.
It’s a small town with lots of hotels. On the way, we’ll walk through villages and cross a bridge. We might see mountains. It’ll take 3-4 hours to reach Phakding, where we’ll spend the night.
After breakfast, we hike to Namche Bazaar. This is a Sherpa village at 3,440 meters. We’ll pass through villages like Thulo Gumela, Tok Tok, Benkar, and Manjo. We’ll also cross the Hillary Bridge. From there, we’ll see Mount Everest for the first time. It’s really big! We’ll spend the night in Namche Bazaar.
Today, we’ll rest in Namche Bazaar to get used to the high altitude. It’s a popular place and the gateway to Mount Everest. You can hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village. There’s a hospital and a school there, both started by Sir Edmund Hillary. You might even see a yeti scalp in the monastery! We’ll go back to Namche Bazaar tonight and hike again tomorrow.
We’ll also visit the Sagarmatha National Park Museum after lunch
After breakfast, we hike to Dole. We’ll see animals like tahr and munals, and maybe even a snow leopard. We’ll walk by the Dudh Koshi River and hike up to Mong La Pass. We’ll have great views of mountains like Kongde, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Everest, and Thamerku. We’ll cross the Mong La Pass and go down to Khumbila. We’ll see waterfalls and rhododendrons on the way. We’ll stop in Dole for the night.
Today, we hike from Dole to Machhermo. It’s a short hike with not many stairs. After breakfast, we walk to Lazu and up to Machhermo. We’ll see Cho Oyu, the fifth-highest mountain in the world. We’ll spend the night in Machhermo.
Today, we hike to Gokyo. We’ll pass through Karnasa, Phangga, and Langpanga. We’ll see Gokyo II and other lakes.
We’ll have lunch in Gokyo and hike to Ngojumba Glacier. We’ll go back to Gokyo for the night.
Today, we hike to Gokyo Fourth Lake before sunrise. It’s a beautiful glacier lake, and we’ll see Everest and other mountains.
We’ll go back to Gokyo for lunch and then get down to Machhermo.
We continue our hike down. We’ll see more mountains and cross bridges. We’ll pass through Thortse and Phortse. We’ll have lunch and then reach Namche Bazaar. It’s easier to breathe here. We’ll spend the night in Namche Bazaar.
Today, we’ll hike back to Lukla, walking through villages and crossing bridges. We’ll arrive in the afternoon and rest and celebrate our trek success there before flying back to Kathmandu.
We’ll fly back to Kathmandu/Manthali. It’ll be nice to be back in the city. We’ll take a car to our hotel. It’s good to have a comfortable ride home.
