Oshino Hakkai is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region,The eight ponds are fed by snow melt from Mt.Fuji.
In the past, the Kithaguchi Hongu Shrine used to be the common starting point for climbing Mount Fuji from the north. Fujiyoshida Sengen Shrine stands in a dense forest and is set off from the road by a long approach lined by stone lanterns and shaded by tall cedar trees.
