The Palazzo Ducale, also known as the Doge's Palace, stands as a symbol of Venice and a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture. Situated in the monumental area between Piazza San Marco, the Piazzetta, and the Molo, the current palace was constructed from 1309 to 1424. Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon designed the renowned Porta della Carta, a monumental late Gothic gate located in the Piazzetta adjacent to the palace. Once the residence of the Doge of Venice and the seat of Venetian government, the palace has witnessed the city's history from its beginnings to its decline. Today, it houses the Museo di Palazzo Ducale and is part of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
