Constructed between 1588 and 1591, the Rialto Bridge was designed by architect Antonio da Ponte to replace its predecessor, a wooden bridge that had collapsed twice and was also destroyed by fire. The bridge's structure resembles its predecessors, with two inclined ramps connected by a central portico. Visiting the Rialto Bridge is worthwhile at any time. Crossing it at different times of the day allows you to capture a photo amidst the various tourists doing the same. Rialto Market Crossing the Rialto Bridge from St. Mark's Square, you arrive at the Rialto Market, a vividly colorful place dominated by fruits and vegetables. If you visit in the summer, you'll find it hard to resist the trays of fresh fruit offered. The Rialto Market opens every day from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Fish Market Square and the surrounding streets.
