Welcome to Aurora Wonderland Basecamp
Located in beautiful Lyngen, our base camp is surrounded by breathtaking fjords, mountains, and islands. With a good distance from the city, you'll find minimal artificial light pollution—providing optimal conditions for viewing the northern lights.
Step into our Crystal Lavvo for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Sleep in a Lavvo heated by a wood-burning fireplace for an authentic Arctic experience. Equipped with a glass ceiling so you can keep an eye on the sky at all times—even from the comfort of your bed.
Enjoy the freedom of having the whole night to search for the northern lights from the warmth and coziness of your Lavvo. If you are lucky, you might even catch different “Releases” during the night.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Please meet at 11:30 AM for departure at 11:45 AM at Prostneset Bus, Boat & Hurtigruten Terminal (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008 Tromsø). Enter the terminal and go to the 1st floor, then head to the bus platform, where you will find a red bus labeled "Arctic Route." guides will be there to assist you. The bus is booked under your booking name. The bus will take you to Breivikeidet, where you will board the ferry. On the other side, our team will be waiting to transport you directly to the base camp. Please keep an eye on your email and WhatsApp for any updates regarding your pickup.

Transportation to Basecamp: Enjoy a scenic journey from Tromsø, including a short ferry ride and beautiful views of mountains and fjords.

Upon arrival, you will be served a freshly prepared fish soup. Then, join a guided 2 km hike—on foot or with snowshoes—through beautiful Scandinavian nature. Please note that the route may be adjusted or the hike canceled depending on weather conditions.

Evening Experience: After dinner, we will share the Northern Lights forecast with you and get the fire started in your lavvo. Once your lavvo is heated, one of our guides will escort you there and show you how to maintain the fire. Please keep in mind that the lavvo is heated by a wood-burning fireplace. You can then enjoy a peaceful night in your warm and cozy lavvo, with the entire evening ahead to search for the Northern Lights—whether you're relaxing beneath the glass ceiling or exploring the base camp surroundings.

Breakfast: The next morning, we serve a traditional Norwegian breakfast before starting the return trip to Tromsø (city center). Arrival is around 11:00 a.m.

- We can accommodate the following: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options — but not in combination (e.g., gluten-free and vegan together). Please don’t forget to add this to your booking notes — we need to know in advance.
- one lavvo has accommodations for up to 4 people, but We never mix guests who don’t know each other in our Lavvos.
- Please note that this is an adventure where you have to add wood to your wood oven yourself.

- We may cancel this trip at any time due to weather or safety reasons. In this case, a full refund will be provided.
- The pickup time from Tromsø and the drop-off time in Tromsø can be subject to change, therefore please plan for some extra time between activities and/or travel plans.
- We do not sell alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own
