The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one the world’s largest mosques and a massive architectural work of art that intentionally blends different Islamic architectural schools. It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. Reza Rahmanian served as the outside architect on the building's design by WATG Architects. The hotel's layout blends contemporary design and construction techniques with Islamic architectural principles like hierarchy, balance, geometry, proportion, and proportionality. 114 smaller domes are dispersed around the structure, while the centre dome is decorated with intricate geometric patterns. The various tones of sand that may be seen in the Arabian Desert served as inspiration for the building's colour.
