We will see the fortification located at the foot of the monument to the bicentenary of the capitulation of the Napoleonic troops and we will learn about the history of the Napoleonic capitulation and the role of the French, Spanish and British troops in it.
After climbing the stairs that give access to the monument to the Virgen del Puerto we will enjoy one of the best views of the bay of Santoña in addition to knowing the reason for the location of this monument to the Patroness of Santoña at the entrance to the bay as well as the mystery of the faces engraved on its base.
To get to this 17th century fort, we will have previously visited San Martín beach, the monument to the Virgen del Puerto with the pertinent explanations. Once we arrive at the fort we will interpret this fortification, the location of the cannons, its strategic defensive role before returning through the old quarry to the San Martín fort.
