We offer complimentary pickup from any hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Please provide your accommodation name and address when booking so we can arrange your transfer. Our team will meet you at your hotel lobby at the scheduled time, look for our driver holding a Zungu Travel sign. If arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), we can also organize airport transfers upon request (additional cost may apply).

Travelers will arrive in Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, our team will meet you at your hotel for a detailed pre-trek briefing and equipment check. You’ll meet your mountain guides, review the route, and prepare for the adventure ahead. The rest of the day is free to relax, explore the town, or enjoy views of Kilimanjaro before the climb begins.
Travelers will begin their Kilimanjaro adventure at Lemosho Gate, located on the western side of the mountain. After registration, the trek starts through a beautiful rainforest zone filled with towering trees, exotic birds, and occasional sightings of monkeys. Accompanied by experienced guides, you’ll enjoy a gentle uphill hike toward Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), where you’ll spend the first night on the mountain surrounded by lush nature.
Travelers will continue their ascent through Kilimanjaro National Park, leaving the lush rainforest behind and entering the high-altitude moorland zone. The hike to Shira 1 Camp offers expansive views of the Shira Plateau, unique alpine vegetation, and dramatic volcanic landscapes. Guides will share insights about the mountain’s geology, flora, and fauna along the way.
Travelers will continue trekking across the Shira Plateau within Kilimanjaro National Park, enjoying breathtaking views of expansive alpine landscapes and unique high-altitude flora. Guides will point out geological formations, discuss the mountain’s volcanic history, and ensure a safe, well-paced ascent to Shira 2 Camp. This day allows further acclimatization while taking in the vast open scenery of Kilimanjaro’s western flank.
Travelers will hike from Shira 2 Camp toward the dramatic Lava Tower (4,630m), passing through stunning high-altitude desert landscapes. This acclimatization day includes a challenging ascent to the Tower, with guides explaining the mountain’s geology and pointing out unique flora. After reaching Lava Tower, trekkers descend to Barranco Camp, enjoying views of the Barranco Wall and surrounding valleys along the way.
Travelers will tackle the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but manageable climb that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Guides ensure a safe ascent while explaining the mountain’s unique geology and high-altitude ecology. After conquering the wall, trekkers descend to Karanga Camp, passing through scenic alpine terrain and enjoying the peaceful mountain environment.
Travelers will trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the final camp before the summit. The hike traverses rocky alpine terrain with spectacular views of the Southern Icefields. Guides provide important summit preparation instructions, check equipment, and ensure proper acclimatization to maximize success on the upcoming early morning summit attempt.
Travelers will begin a pre-dawn ascent from Barafu Camp to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. The climb passes through the alpine desert zone under the guidance of experienced guides, offering spectacular sunrise views. After reaching the summit, trekkers descend via Mweka Route, enjoying changing landscapes and scenic vistas, before arriving at Mweka Camp to rest.
Travelers will complete their Kilimanjaro adventure by descending from Mweka Camp to the Mweka Gate, passing through the lush rainforest and enjoying final views of the mountain. Upon exiting the park, trekkers receive their summit certificates and are transferred back to Moshi for rest, refreshments, and onward travel arrangements.
