Depart from Lyon and head to the medieval village of Pérouges. Stroll through its cobblestone streets, admire the ancient ramparts, and visit the Place du Tilleul and the weavers’ houses. Enjoy a tasting of the famous Pérouges galette and local cider.
Next, choose between a gourmet lunch at a traditional inn, featuring trout, mountain cheese, and local wine, or a more casual sandwich option.
After lunch, drive along the Bugey Wine Route, stopping for panoramic views of the vineyards. Learn about the history of Bugey wine, which was served at the court of Savoy as early as the 15th century.
Continue through the picturesque villages of Lagnieu, Villebois, and Saint-Sorlin-en-Bugey, with photo stops along the way. Arrive at a Bugey winery for a tasting of sparkling whites and rosés, and visit the wine museum at Caveau Bugiste.
On the way back to Lyon, stop for a coffee break and enjoy views of the Ain plain.
