< Haepyeong Lake Trail > It is a hidden gem in Boseong. Around the lake, there is an easy 3.9km(2.4mile) trail with stone towers, cedar trees, bamboo trees, maple trees, cherry blossoms and more. Amid the trail, it is connected to a vinegar park which produces naturally fermented grain vinegar. It has a beautifully designed café inside with their unique vinegar drinks. We will have a stop here to enjoy the view and the special beverage.
It is not just any mountain. The hike up Mt. Obongsan takes you along a rocky ridge and fascinating views with rock formations, stone pagodas, and waterfalls. In particular, this mountain is a unique cultural heritage because it was the place for quarrying Goodeuljang, which is a flat stone used in Ondol (underfloor heating system for Korean traditional houses). It had been actively quarried from 1940s to 1980s and accounted for 70% of the production of Gudeuljang nationwide. To deliver the quarried stones from the mountain to the ground, the cart drawn by a cow was used. The cart trail is still well preserved, and we will hike up through the cart trail to the waterfall (15minutes) or to the peak (40minutes).
