Pureungil Park was created on an old railway that once connected Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces, playing an important role in Korea’s industry and regional exchange. As the tracks ran through downtown Gwangju, they caused noise, pollution, and safety concerns. After years of public effort, the railway was moved, and the abandoned tracks were transformed into this green, peaceful urban park. Today, Pureungil Park is more than just a walking path — it’s a symbol of community action. Local citizens helped plan, build, and now take care of the park. It links forests, neighborhoods, and people, offering a relaxing escape in the heart of the city. Let’s enjoy the park while keeping it clean!

    Dongmyeong-dong Cafe Street

Once a prosperous neighborhood, Dongmyeong-dong has been revitalized with charming cafés, restaurants, and cultural spaces created from renovated old houses. Since the opening of the Asia Culture Center in 2015, it has become especially popular among young people, giving the area a unique and vibrant character. After the park cleanup, let’s enjoy a tasty meal and coffee in this area. We’ll also have a chance to talk with residents about caring for animals and creating a neighborhood where people and animals live in harmony.
