The Slave River (Donkor Nsuo) On the way to the coastal dungeon, the slave merchants stopped at Donkor Nsuo, known as "the slave river," in Assin Manso. This location held significant importance in the journey of captured Africans. Recuperation and Preparation Captured Africans were allowed to recuperate at Donkor Nsuo after their long and arduous journey. During this period, they were well-fed and rested for several days or weeks. The merchants knew that by ensuring the captives appeared healthy and strong, they could guarantee higher prices at the markets.
