In the tea room, there is a decorative space called tokonoma (床の間) for the host to show how appreciative they are of the guests to join for the tea ceremony, relishing the passage of the seasons together through drinking matcha. The guests will be invited to use their imagination fully to visualize tokonoma in their mind. Then we will decide what kind of decoration, or more specifically hanging scroll we would like to put out there to reflect our mind here and now.

What to expect

Takao Omori will be facilitating a matcha (green tea) ceremony dating back to the 16th century, meticulously formalized by Senno Rikyu in Japan. This ceremony is a poetic dance of harmony where every action and tool has a meaning, reflecting the soulful aesthetics and spirituality of Japan. The tea room becomes a peaceful haven, transcending societal barriers, welcoming all to find solace and celebrate the changing seasons. Chanoyu is a timeless experience that unites us all, beyond cultures and borders.
Now, performing, welcoming you to learn about the ceremony, and inviting you to fully experience it as time allows us, Takao aspires to unite hearts, bringing people from diverse cultures together through the tranquilizing mindset that the ceremony offers in cafe Stay Happy, an extremely cosy cafe in Tokyo. So join him in this introspective journey, as we sip tea, share stories, and find our common thread in this vast tapestry of humanity.
