It's up to you if you want to finish to the beautiful Villa Olmo or wish to continue to Brunate: I'll give you all the info and options in the tour!
An extraordinary example of Romanesque military architecture, Porta Torre is what remains-or rather, what is most visible-of the ancient defensive walls that surrounded the city of Como.
On the site of the Roman Forum, until the 1800s it was the market square, the commercial center of the city, of which it was also, in the early medieval and communal period, one of the religious fulcrums. We'll get to know about the "Dragon Portal"
Nearly four hundred years were spent by Como workers in the construction of the cathedral, begun in 1396, whose façade is still one of the most remarkable examples of late Gothic in northern Italy.
Piazza Cavour is the beating heart of the city of Como: a synergistic point of exchange, meeting and sociability. From the large square, embraced by the many period and historically significant buildings such as hotels, banks, stores, bars and restaurants, it is possible to admire the incredible landscape overlooking Lake Como.
Located on the shores of the lake, the temple is dedicated to the genius of Alessandro Volta, a native of Como. It was built in neoclassical style to celebrate the centenary of the illustrious citizen’s death. We will talk about his story too! Ticket to enter into the temple is not included (5€)
Just 900 meters away from the Monumento dei Caduti, Villa Olmo is another must-see on a Lake Como vacation. Aesthetically, this 18th-century mansion is in keeping with the style of the other villas found in Como, Cernobbio, Bellagio, etc.
If you have some energy (and time) I really recommend you to visit Brunate: a small village with a really cool view on the lake. Ticket not included (6,60€)
Since 1927 this 29-meter tower has towered over Lake Como. Built for the centenary of Alessandro Volta, it lights up from dusk to dawn with green, white and red lights: the Italian Flag!
