    The abbey was founded in 983 AD by the bishop of Modena, Giovanni da Canossa. It was built on an earlier religious site and quickly became an important spiritual and cultural center. Since its foundation, the abbey has been occupied by Benedictine monks, known for their commitment to prayer, study and manual work.

After the death of Luciano Pavarotti, the theater was named in his name to honor the memory and exceptional career of the famous tenor from Modena, considered one of the greatest interpreters of opera of the 20th century.     The Ducal Palace of Modena is considered one of the first examples of Baroque architecture in Europe and represents a seventeenth-century masterpiece. The Palazzo Ducale in Modena currently houses the Military Academy, so it is not usually accessible for independent visits. Access is permitted exclusively via guided tours and upon reservation. Tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays. Ticket cost: 10€
