The Intro Wall is a perfect introduction to Via Ferrata climbing in some of the worlds most spectacular scenery!

The route is facilitated with a continuous cable and steps, making climbing safe and achievable for everyone. The return back to town follows the popular hiking path down the Nesaksla mountain. The route offers breathtaking view and an unforgettable climbing adventure!

The Intro Wall route does not require any previous climbing experience. The climb takes approx. 3-4 hrs return, where you will be guided by professionals and secured to the mountain by cable throughout. Great pictures guarantee!

If you want to feel your heart racing without it fully bursting out of your chest, the Intro Wall would be ideal for you. It's achievable by nearly everyone.

What to expect

The Intro Wall is the perfect introduction to Via Ferrata combining adrenaline, safety and unforgettable scenery. Via Ferrata is a specially designed climbing route equipped with fixed steel cables, steps and ladders, allowing you to ascend a mountain wall without needing previous climbing experience.

This guided half-day adventure takes you high above the dramatic Romsdalen valley, offering breathtaking views of iconic peaks such as The Troll Wall, Romsdalshorn and Bispen. Safely secured to the mountain at all times, you will climb natural rock formations, airy sections and constructed elements that make the route both exciting and achievable for beginners.

Your experience begins at Norsk Tindesenter, where you will meet your professional local guide, receive all necessary equipment, and take part in a full safety briefing before walking to the start of the wall. After the climb, the return hike follows the popular trail down from Nesaksla, bringing you back to Åndalsnes with stunning photo opportunities along the way.

The Intro Wall is graded at difficulty level B and is ideal for anyone looking for their first Via Ferrata experience in spectacular Norwegian nature.

  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • If you arrive by car, please park at the longterm parking at Viktoria opposite the railway station, and then walk 5 minutes to Norsk Tindesenter
  • Mountain weather can change quickly. We recommend checking the forecast and dressing accordingly. The tour normally runs in rain, but may be cancelled in hazardous conditions such as strong wind, thunderstorms, or ice. You will be contacted if the tour must be cancelled
  • Bring a backpack with food and water, wear weather-appropriate clothing including hiking pants, a windproof layer and warm insulation, plus gloves and sturdy mountain or approach shoes with good grip
  • If you don't have good shoes and gloves, this can be rented/bought at the center
