You will return into medieval times with this private day trip to Rouen by train.
With the enthusiastic knowledge of your personal tour guide, this will be your opportunity to discover and learn about this historic Normandy tow's quaint medieval and renaissance architecture.
Joan of Arc, a tragic heroin of the 100 years war who was burnt in Rouen, William the conqueror, Rollo the Viking, Richard the Lion Heart (the latter being mentioned in the adventures of Robin Hood) are some of the greatest figures who shaped the history of Rouen, of Normandy, and the relationships between France and England for more than 100 years. You'll get thrilled to learn about their lives while walking on their footstep.
By the way! You'll also admire the tallest gothic cathedral of France that impressionist artist Claude Monet obsessively painted: Cathedral Notre-Dame of Rouen, being the actual tallest gothic cathedral of France.

• You'll meet your personal tour guide at a meeting point received upon booking • Excursion starts at 7:30 to 8am - Back in Paris at about 5-ish pm. Duration: About 8 hours • Scenic train from Paris to Rouen in Normandy. • In Rouen, you'll explore the historic and quaint downtown with its medieval architecture. • You'll admire the tallest gothic cathedral of France, Notre-Dame of Rouen, that was recurrently painted by impressionist Claude Monet. • You'll see the place where Joan of Arc was executed, burnt at the stake. • You'll admire and learn about the richly, beautifully crafted city clock tower of Rouen, one of the oldests of France. • You'll discover many other true hidden gems on your tour route such as a former medieval cemetery (very busy during the black plague). • Spectacular views along the way • Possibility to eat at one of several lunch accommodations in town (not included) • Your tour will cheerfully end upon our return to Paris

2Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen
As the tallest cathedral of France, Notre-Dame (Our Lady) of Rouen has been painted several times by Impressionist painter Claude Monet who loved recreate the sunlight variations on it throughout the day. Inside the church lies many treasures, among which the tomb effigy of the duke of Normandy and king of England Richard Lion Heart, and other powerful medieval figures of Normandy and France.

3Gros-Horloge
Iconic belfry with its daintily crafted clock. While we'll admire it from the lively pedestrian street that goes under the belfry, it will be possible for an additional fee to visit inside and climb up the stairs for a spectacular view of Rouen!

The Joan of Arc Historial is not a traditional museum with classic works hung on walls. It is rather an immersive show re-enacting our heroin's saga and posthumous trial for rehabilitation in 1456 where witnesses of this era will guide you from room to room ensuring you an unforgettable experience.
